Audi to show new entertainment tech, in-car 'movie theater' at CES

The German automaker expects increased attention on entertainment as vehicles become more automated.

Audi has announced plans to reveal its vision for next-generation in-car entertainment at CES in Las Vegas next month.

The company promises to show a completely new "on-the-road entertainment format" and a "movie theater experience." The Audi Immersive In-Car Entertainment system provides access to current Hollywood movies and streaming content.

The company says the immersive technology is designed to be used while the car is stationary. Related features are being developed in anticipation of further vehicle automation, however, that will create more demand for entertainment as drivers no longer need to pay attention to the road.

The new technologies will be showcased inside a luxury sedan at Audi's CES booth.
