Audi e-tron ordering to open for U.S. buyers in Septemberby Byron Hurd
Audi will begin taking reservations for its all-electric e-tron SUV on September 17th.
Audi announced Thursday that U.S customers will be able to place reservations for its all-new e-tron SUV--the company's first all-electric crossover--in mid-September.
The opening of the reservation system (also a first for Audi) will correspond with the release of detailed information about the e-tron, including pricing, full specifications and available configurations.
Audi was originally slated to reveal the e-tron at the end of August at an event in Brussels, but had to push it back for what the company described as "organizational reasons" likely stemming from the arrest of CEO Rupert Stadler in June.
As a consolation prize for the delay, Audi revealed the e-tron's interior earlier in July.
Like Tesla, Audi will be charging (so to speak) for the privilege of being on the EV waiting list. Reservations can be placed with a fully refundable $1,000 fee.
