Audi prices 2019 A8by Ronan Glon
The line-up will grow next year with the addition of the V8-powered S8.
Audi has released pricing information for the all-new 2019 A8. The brand's latest flagship model made its global debut last year during the Audi Summit in Barcelona, Spain.
The fourth-generation A8 starts at $83,800 before Audi adds a mandatory $995 destination charge. It's about on par with the BMW 7 Series while undercutting the Mercedes-Benz S-Class by $6,000. Lexus charges $75,000 for the comparable LS while Jaguar's XJ -- one of the oldest cars in this competitive set -- starts at $75,400.
At launch, Audi's flagship will only be offered with a 3.0-liter V6 engine that works with a 48-volt mild hybrid system to produce 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The six-cylinder spins the four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system.
The list of standard features includes 18-way power-adjustable front seats, a power-adjustable steering column, leather upholstery, and Audi's MMI Touch Response infotainment system. Buyers who want more content can pay extra for niceties like a relaxation right rear seat with a heated and massaging footrest, 22-way adjustable front seats with a massage function and ventilation, and a heated steering wheel.
The 2019 A8 will go on sale this fall. Audi promises it will expand the line-up with a V8-powered model called S8 by the summer of 2019, meaning we could see it at either the Paris auto show or the Los Angeles auto show.
