The car starred in the summer hit about a getaway driver.
A 2006 Subaru WRX with a starring role in the hit summer movie Baby Driver has sold for $69,100.
One of the most memorable scenes from the film was a getaway scene early on, in which the titular hero evades police after a bank heist in the all-wheel-drive Subie sedan. In it, the car performs several stunts, including a perfectly executed series of 180-degree turns and drifts to showcase the driving chops of the protagonist, Baby, played by Ansel Elgort.
According to Carbuzz, the car is a WRX dressed up to look like an high-performance STI and received an STI turbocharger. It was also also converted to rear-wheel-drive so the back end would hang out more during drifts.
The description in the eBay auction describes the car as having 158,000 miles on the clock and has "some dings and scratches from the filming of the movie." It also says there were five Subaru WRXes built for the film, but only three are left.
Bids for the one-week auction started at $19,000, but 71 bids ratcheted the price up to nearly $70,000, or four times what a real STI in top condition would sell for.
