The leak appears to confirm an M2 with an M4 engine.
Images and specs for the hotly anticipated BMW M2 Competition have been leaked two weeks ahead of the car's official debut.
Published on BMW Blog Slovenia, the leak claims that the even more hard-core performance version of the M2 coupe will be powered by the twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six found in the larger BMW M4. However, in this application the motor will be detuned to 410 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque, a few ticks down from the 425 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of its big bro, but 45 horsepower and 62 lb-ft more than a regular M2.
The leak also claims that the setup is good for a 0-62 time of 4.2 seconds with the DCT gearbox. A manual transmission was not mentioned.
The accompanying images seem straight out of a video game, and show the M2 Competition with some distinct visual changes over the standard M2. The nose features reshaped kidney grilles and intakes in the lower fascia. In addition to the M4 engine, the M2 Competition appears to take the mirrors and seats from its elder sibling as well. Larger diameter wheels and black badging complete the more aggressive look.
The M2 Competition is slated for debut at the Beijing Motor Show April 25.
