The production model retains the concept's massive angular-edged kidney grille.

BMW has released the first images of its forthcoming X7 in final production form.

Partial photos from the assembly line and driving shots of a camouflaged pre-production unit suggest the design has remained surprisingly close to the Concept X7.

The three-row "super SUV" is distinguished by a massive new kidney grille with an angular outline, scaling up the new design element that was introduced with the X2.

The X7 is the fifth model to be built at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina, sharing the same assembly line as the current X5 and X6 models.

The company will officially unveil the new SUV late in 2018 ahead of first deliveries.
