Buick to reveal two electrified cars in Beijing

Both models will likely remain in China.

Buick will continue its electric car offensive at the upcoming Beijing auto show. The company announced plans to unveil an all-electric SUV concept named Enspire and an electrified production car called Velite 6 during the biennial event.

The Enspire (Buick's spelling; not ours) will arrive as a close-to-production concept car. The company's dark teaser image reveals little. We see a shapely hatch, elongated headlights connected by a light strip, and a roof-mounted spoiler.

Officially, the concept is an inspiration of future design and technology elements. We suspect the model is already well on its way to production behind the scenes, however.

The Velite 6 will break cover ready to hit showrooms. Motor Authority reports it will come in plug-in hybrid and electric variants. Again, the styling remains under wraps. The teaser image hints at a more realistic design with a sharp rendition of the L-shaped lights found on current members of the company's line-up.

As of writing, it's too early to tell whether either of Buick's Beijing-bound electrified models will make the trip across the Pacific and land in American showrooms. The fact that they're breaking cover in Beijing after the brand fell silent in New York and in Detroit this year suggests they'll remain in China, where sales of electrified cars are booming thanks to ever-stricter government policies.

We'll learn more details about Buick's electrified models in just a few short weeks.
