General Motors has revealed the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison, a new performance variant.

Geared for overland travel, the Bison was developed in collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles.

AEV supplied five skid plates to cover the oil pan, fuel tank, transfer case and other components. The company also designed the front and rear bumpers, both made of stamped steel.

The Bison features class-exclusive front and rear locking differentials and Multimatic DSSV dampers on a lifted suspension system. Other off-road upgrades include 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac off-road tires and unique 17x8-inch aluminum wheels.

Available options include a 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine with 186 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, along with an accessory snorkel.

The Colorado ZR2 Bison will go on sale in January 2019.
