GM to recall more than 1 million trucks and SUVs

GM will recall more than a million trucks and SUVs to address a power steering issue.

GM is recalling more than a million pickup trucks and SUVs to address a software issue which can result in loss of power steering, especially at low speeds.

The recall appears to affect all light-duty trucks and pickups built on GM's common truck platform for the 2015 model year, meaning owners of the Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade should expect a notice regarding the campaign.

For owners, the fix is a simple one, and from GM's description will require only minimal downtime to reflash the power steering module, Reuters reports.

Any delay in addressing the issue on the customer side will likely come from the sheer volume of repairs necessary, with 1,015,918 vehicles needing the fix.

GM has not yet set a schedule for notifying owners, but we expect it will happen in the next few months.
