The car was created to break the Bathurst lap record.

Holden has conjured up a concept car to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Australian car company, as well as the 50th anniversary of its first victory at Bathurst.

Holden designers set out with the goal of lapping the 3.85-mile Bathurst circuit in less than 1 minute and 30 seconds. That time would destroy the standing record established in 2011 by Jensen Button and his F1 car.

The answer is the Holden Time Attack Concept, a theoretical electric racer. To achieve its record-smashing goal, it must have a 0-62 mph time of just 1.25 seconds and a top speed of nearly 300 mph. As such, the designers calculated that it would require 1,341 horsepower, 2,398 lb-ft of torque, and the ability to corner at an F1-like 6.5g at racing speeds.

The car would be equipped with four electric motors, a carbon fiber composite chassis, and seat one.

Unfortunately, Holden has no actual plans to build a life-sized version. However, in their simulation tests, the car managed to run the Bathurst circuit in 1:29.3 seconds. A scale model was presented at this weekend's Bathurst 1000.
