Chassis number 001 has only covered 764 miles in ten years. The very first Bugatti Veyron built is scheduled to cross the auction block next month in Monterey, California.Finished in an eye-catching two-tone red and black paint job, chassis number 001 was delivered new to an undisclosed location on the east coast, where it spent the first few years of its life. It was then sold to a buyer in California, and it has been living in the Beverly Hills area ever since.
The auction description states that it's in exceptional condition. The car has been showcased at a long list of events over the past decade, including this year's edition of the Geneva Motor Show where it was displayed next to the last-ever Veyron.
Although it has only covered 764 miles in ten years, the 2006 Veyron was recently given a full tune-up by Bugatti of Beverly Hills and it is said to be fully functional. Power comes from a massive 8.0-liter W16 engine that uses four turbos to deliver 986 horsepower to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
RM Sotheby's estimates the first Veyron will sell for anywhere between $1.8 and $2.4 million when the hammer drops on August 13th, 2015. To sweeten the deal, the car comes with an extended two-year warranty from Bugatti Certified and two years of free maintenance.
