Ford Focus RS arrives in US showroomsby Justin King
The flagship hatchback fetches $36,605, more than $10,000 above the ST edition.
Ford's Focus RS is now arriving in showrooms throughout the US, following initial availability in Europe.
The flagship hatchback carries a starting price of $36,605 (including freight), representing a premium of nearly $17,000 above the basic Focus SE hatchback and more than $10,000 above the performance-oriented ST edition.
The extra cash pays for an aggressively tuned version of Ford's 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, delivering 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. Other upgrades include a 'drift' mode, dynamic torque vectoring and unique bodywork, among other features.
The fastest production Focus currently available, the RS can launch to 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds and keep pushing to 165 mph.
The first US-market Focus RS customer recently took delivery in San Diego, taking off work to pick up the performance hatchback after waiting eight months since placing the reservation.
