The resurrected Cobra Jet will be the most powerful and quickest version from the factory yet.
Ford has released a teaser image for the Mustang Cobra Jet, celebrating the original Cobra Jet drag car that first took to staging lanes 50 years ago.
The modern Cobra Jet promises to run the quarter mile in the "mid-8-second" range at 150 mph.
To be clear, the Cobra Jet is a purpose-built drag racer rather than a direct rival to the street-legal Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which boasts a 9.65-second quarter mile at 140 mph.
Production will be limited to 86 non-VIN cars, each powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8.
Full specifications will be released this summer.
