Ford fires NA president Raj Nair over 'inappropriate behavior'

The company says an investigation determined \"certain behavior by Nair was inconsistent with the company\'s code of conduct,\" without elaborating.

Ford has fired its executive vice president and president of North America, Raj Nair, over inappropriate behavior.

The decision is said to have followed a recent internal review into reports of inappropriate behavior. The inquiry found that "certain behavior" by Nair was inconsistent with the company's code of conduct.

"We made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration," said Ford CEO Jim Hackett. "Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values."

Nair issued a statement: "I sincerely regret that there have been instances where I have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the Company and I have always espoused."

Nair had only served as president of Ford North America since June 1, 2017. Previously he led global product development and served as chief technical officer.

Ford has not yet named a successor.
