Here is when Ford will retire its cars

The Fusion will last longer than the Taurus, Fiesta, or Focus.

Ford made headlines this week when it announced plans to deep-six most of its passenger cars in the coming years, but it didn't provide a specific time frame. We now have a better idea of when the firm's cars will join Mercury in the history books.

Posting on Twitter, Automotive News reporter Michael Martinez claims production of the current-generation Focus will end next month. Ford currently builds the Focus in its Wayne, Michigan factory.

Here's when Ford will end production of its cars:

-May 2018: Focus-March 2019: Taurus-May 2019: Fiesta

Fusion will stick around for at least a couple more years. Focus Active will be imported from China starting in mid-2019.

The company's Chicago assembly plant will stop making the Taurus in March of 2019. The Fiesta will retire in May, meaning it will last much longer than Ford announced last year. We likely won't get the face-lifted model (pictured) sold in global markets like Europe, however.

That leaves us with the Fusion. Martinez learned the Fusion will stick around for at least a couple more years. It's been on the market since the 2013 model year so it's not quite at the end of its life cycle yet, though it's getting a little bit long in the tooth. As it stands, it looks like the Fusion might live to see the turn of the decade.

Finally, Martinez adds Ford will start importing the Focus Active from China in mid-2019. Its spot in the schedule seemingly confirms it will arrive as a 2020 model.
