Honda's future-thinking concept borrows styling from the past.

What happens when you combine excellent retro styling with a future-proofed EV powertrain? This is Honda's answer, and if we could buy one today, we'd be mighty tempted. Even better: If you feel the way we do (and you live in Europe), the Honda Urban EV Concept may actually put your money where your mouth is. Honda President and CEO, Takahiro Hachigo said, "This is not some vision of the distant future; a production version of this car will be here in Europe in 2019."

We have a hard time believing that Honda will build an EV for public consumption that looks like this one, but we have our fingers crossed anyway. Unfortunately, that's about the extent of Honda's willingness to share. In fact, the only component of the design promised to make it to production is the blue backlit "H" logo.

For now, though, we're in love with the classic hatchback lines. Sure, the modern greenhouse detracts a bit from the look, but overall it still works. It's easily the coolest retro design we've seen since Nissan teased us with the IDx concept years ago.
