The bespoke package will add more than $400,000 to the cost of a regular Senna.
McLaren Automotive has announced that it will introduce a special edition of its already exclusive Senna road-legal race car at next month's Geneva Motor Show.
Known as the Senna Carbon Theme by McLaren Special Operations, the limited edition hyper car features unique exposed carbon fiber and yellow and green exterior accents. Those accents are also featured in the car's interior. The pops of yellow and green are meant to honor the helmet colors of legendary Brazilian Formula 1 racing driver Ayrton Senna.
McLaren says the Senna Carbon Theme by MSO takes nearly 1,000 hours to produce. Roughly 250 of those production hours are taken up by the yellow detailing alone.
"The McLaren Senna customers in the process of specifying their own, personalized cars are almost without exception commissioning an elevated level of MSO content, so we are definitely appealing to our target audience," said Ansar Ali, Managing Director, McLaren Special Operations. "With the car having generated so much interest since its unveiling in December, we knew we needed to produce something very special in order to showcase the unique talents of McLaren Special Operations; the McLaren Senna Carbon Theme by MSO at the Geneva Motor Show is exactly the kind of project we thrive on delivering and once customers have had the opportunity to view it in person, I would not be at all surprised to see a rise in expressions of interest for MSO Visual Carbon Fiber cars similar to this one."
The standard McLaren Senna carries a base price of about £750,000 ($1,033,725), but the Carbon Theme by MSO adds a healthy premium to the bottom line — just under £300,000 ($413,635), to be exact. McLaren will build just 500 units of the Senna, and every one is already spoken for.
