The 1,000-horsepower Exorcist is the fastest sixth-generation Camaro, edging ahead of the Corvette ZR1 by a few mph.
Hennessey Performance is celebrating an impressive top-speed benchmark for its Exorcist Camaro.
The 1,000-horsepower Camaro ZL1 topped out at 217 mph on the Continental Tire proving grounds in Texas, validated via a VBox data logging system.
"We wanted to see if The Exorcist could exceed the top speed of the new ZR1 Corvette, which is 213 mph," said company founder John Hennessey. "Mission accomplished."
The Exorcist is said to be the fastest sixth-generation Camaro and can outpace the McLaren 720S, Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Ferrari 812 Superfast and Lamborghini Huracan, among other supercars.
The Hennessey Performance team swapped the ZL1's stock 1.7-liter supercharger for a new 2.9-liter unit with a larger intercooler and upgraded cylinder heads, camshafts, valvetrain components and headers.
The tuner has delivered 20 Exorcists so far, with production capped at 100 units total. Each carries a $119,950 price tag.
