Honda confirms debut of new Passport in Los Angeles

Honda's revived SUV will bow at the L.A. Auto Show this month.

Honda confirmed Thursday that the 2019 Passport will make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this November, marking the return of a nameplate which has been dormant for more than 15 years.

A teaser video and image accompanied the announcement, giving us a glimpse at the new midsize SUV. The video depicts the Passport being driven on what appear to be rural California roads, but the zoomed-out, top-down perspective gives us little insight into the SUV's looks.

The image is likewise deliberately lacking in detail. The photo of the Passport being driven through a curve in a dirt road makes strategic use of the SUV's dust wake to obscure any details of its exterior.

The Passport will slot between the Honda CR-V and Honda Pilot, sharing a bit more with the latter than with the former. The Honda Passport, like the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano, is a two-row, mid-size SUV, offering the space of a larger crossover with less passenger capacity.

Honda will reveal the 2019 Passport on November 27 (the eve of the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show). Stay tuned.
