Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid joins Top Safety Pick Plus honor rollby Justin King
The Ioniq Hybrid award follows top safety ratings handed to the redesigned Elantra GT and latest Santa Fe Sport.
Hyundai's Ioniq Hybrid has received a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The small car aced all five crashworthiness tests and earned a 'superior' mark for its automatic emergency braking system, which completely avoided collisions at 12 mph and 25 mph.
Headlight performance for the Limited trim's HIDs was deemed 'acceptable,' while most other headlight variants earned a 'poor' rating. The IIHS has not yet tested the optional curve-adaptive HID lights built after May 2017.
The Ioniq Hybrid joins the TSP+ club alongside two other Hyundai models, the redesigned Elantra GT and latest Santa Fe Sport. Notably, the crossover is the only vehicle among the trio to land a 'good' rating for headlight performance.
Hyundai currently has seven models with TSP+ ratings.
