Infiniti could be prepping a new flagship sedan.
Infiniti has released a teaser image previewing a concept vehicle that will debut at the upcoming North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Infiniti is keeping the details of the concept car a secret until the start of the Detroit show, but the automaker says the concept "heralds a new generation of Infiniti."
"The new Infiniti concept car will take the traditional sedan architecture to its next stage of evolution," said Karim Habib, head of Infiniti design. "A shift toward a smarter, more compact and less intrusive powertrains; we were able to create an alternative form with flowing gestures, more engaging in character and more enriching experience. With its long cabin, balanced proportions and muscular stance, the concept heralds in a new era for Infiniti models."
Infiniti has previously discussed introducing a true flagship sedan to replace the Q45 that went out of production in 2006, and it's possible the Detroit concept could preview that vehicle. Given Infiniti's current naming structure, that vehicle could launch as the Q80.
Infiniti will lift the veil on its latest concept car on January 15.
