You might be surprised with a few nameplates that show up on the best resale list!

The evergreen Jeep Wrangler has topped the Kelley Blue Book's Best Resale list for 2012, but Toyota and Lexus have taken the full-line crowns for mainstream and luxury brands, respectively.

KBB reports that the Wrangler, whose value was bolstered by the arrival of a new engine for 2012, will retain 68 percent of its resale value after 36 months and 55 percent after 60 months.

Otherwise, the list is truck and SUV-heavy, which further reinforces the consensus that a dedicated legion of buyers for trucks and SUVs will exist regardless of a general market shift toward passenger cars.

Here's a look at the Top 10, including their retained value percentages after 36 and 60 months, respectively.

1. Jeep Wrangler, 68%, 55%

2. Toyota FJ Cruiser, 67%, 50%

3. Toyota Tacoma, 64%, 49%

4. Hyundai Tucson, 64.3%, 45.3%
