The company describes the Proceed as an "extended hot hatch," not a wagon.Kia has revealed new renderings of the Proceed Concept, scheduled for a proper unveiling next week in Frankfurt.Designed down the road from the motor show at Kia's European design center, the Proceed represents a new body style for the next-generation Cee'd.
"With many European drivers now seeking performance alternatives to the three-door hot hatch, we began thinking about a different halo model for the cee'd family," says Kia's Europe design chief, Gregory Guillaume. "The Proceed Concept represents a bold new vision of how the vibrant soul of the pro_cee'd could be reincarnated and revitalised for a new generation of performance-oriented drivers."
The Proceed Concept is consequently presented as an "extended hot hatch" -- not a wagon. The concept is much lower, wider and shorter than the Cee'd hatchback, with bold 20-inch wheels to reinforce a sporty appearance.
The next-generation Cee'd is expected to ride on the same platform that underpins the Hyundai i30, aka the Elantra GT. A production car based on the fastback is unlikely to maintain the same dramatic proportions as the concept.
