Paris LIVE: Lexus UX Concept

The company aims to deliver a unique experience in the compact crossover segment.

Following several teasers, Lexus has finally revealed its UX Concept at the Paris Motor Show.

As its name implies, the UX aims to deliver a unique user experience in the compact crossover segment. The concept was penned by ED2, the company's European design headquarters, where the team decided to embrace an 'inside-out' to visually link the interior and exterior.

The body is boldly styled with exaggerated curves and edges, centered around an evolution of the brand's characteristic spindle grille. L-shaped daytime running lights have been repositioned to pierce the sharply-angled headlights, while the rear lamps curve up toward the roof-mounted spoiler.

Lexus interior designers are said to have took inspiration from the term 'deconstruction' to create the UX cabin. The seats feature open webbing and skeleton frames in place of traditional materials, aligning with the dashboard's angular design and 'see-through' A-pillars.

Toyota's luxury division hopes the UX will attract younger customers from urban markets. The company suggests luxury SUVs are the fastest-growing luxury segment in the US market.

A production model would likely be built upon the same platform that underpins the Toyota C-HR.
