Mazda3 facelift to arrive in US later this yearby Justin King
The refreshed Mazda3 gets a new front fascia with new headlights and smaller LED fog lights.
Mazda has unveiled the refreshed Mazda3, due to arrive first in Japan before heading to US showrooms for the 2017 model year.
The facelift introduces Mazda's new SkyActiv-Vehicle Dynamics G-Vectoring Control (GVC) system, which controls engine torque in relation to steering angle. The assistance feature essentially manages weight distribution between the front and rear wheels, keeping the vehicle balanced during high-G cornering or emergency maneuvers.
GVC is said to enhance the Mazda3's Jinba Ittai driving feel, fulfilling Mazda's focus on a "human-centered development philosophy" without waiting for the next-generation hatchback to arrive.
Aside from the improved dynamics, the 2017 Mazda3 is visually distinguished by a revised front fascia with new headlights, a tweaked lower bumper and smaller LED fog lights.
Additional details will presumably be released ahead of the facelift's US launch later this year.
