McLaren details 600LT ahead of Goodwood debutby Drew Johnson
The McLaren 600LT will retail from $240,000.
McLaren has released performance specifications for its new 600LT model. The McLaren 600LT will make its formal debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 12.
Billed as the lightest, quickest and most powerful road-legal car in McLaren's Sport Series of vehicles, the 600LT weighs in at just 2,749 pounds and is capable of accelerating from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds — that latter figure matches that of the 675LT. Top speed is quoted at 204mph. The 600LT's firepower is provided by a 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 delivering 592 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque.
But naturally the McLaren 600LT is more than just a dragster with an incredible top speed. It can also handle and brake with the best in the business. The LT's unique aero kit — which includes a pronounced front splitter, fixed rear wing and rear diffuser — contributes to 220 pounds of downforce at 155mph. A revised carbon ceramic braking system helps the 600LT stop from 124mph in 383.9 feet, which is just 3.3 feet shy of the mark set by the McLaren P1.
The McLaren 600LT will retail from $240,000, but that price tag can be pushed much higher thanks to a dizzying array of available options. Some highlights from the 600LT's option sheet include five-spoke alloy wheels for $4,950, an MSO Clubsport Pack that adds a number of carbon fiber bits for $29,370 and a Clubsport Pro Pack for $34,600 that consists of a harness bar and 6-point harness.
McLaren will begin production of the 600LT in October 2018. The company says availability will be "strictly limited."
