Mercedes-AMG prices V8-powered 2019 GT Four-Door Coupe

Compared to the Panamera, the GT is a bargain.

Mercedes-AMG has published pricing information for the V8-powered variants of the 2019 GT-Four-Door Coupe. Pricing data for the straight-six-powered model will be announced at a later date, according to the firm.

The cheapest V8 is the GT 63, which carries a base price of $136,500 before AMG factors in a mandatory $995 destination charge. Its twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter engine makes 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Buyers who want more power need to step up to the GT 63 S, which uses an evolution of the eight rated at 630 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. It starts at $159,000.

AMG has the Porsche Panamera in its line of fire. To add context, the 550-horsepower Panamera Turbo starts at $151,500 while the range-topping, 680-horsepower Turbo S E-Hybrid is priced at $186,200. In that light, AMG's GT Four-Door Coupe is somewhat of a bargain for buyers looking to spend a six-digit sum on a sport sedan.

The line-up will grow later in 2019 when AMG begins building the 430-horsepower GT 53, which comes with a turbocharged, 3.0-liter straight-six engine that benefits from a hybrid boost. Like its V8-powered siblings, the 53 comes exclusively with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a performance-tuned evolution of Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

The 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and GT 63 S will begin arriving on dealer lots during the first half of 2019. The firm hasn't revealed when it will launch the more affordable model.
