Just five units of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 50 will be built.

Mercedes is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its high-performance AMG arm with a limited edition of its Mercedes-AMG GT3 race car.Called the AMG GT3 Edition 50, the special-edition race car is based on the AMG GT3 that was unveiled two years ago at the Geneva Motor Show. However, the Edition 50 comes with several unique upgrades.

The Edition 50 comes with a "real black" color that's essentially a matte black finish — a first for an AMG car. Each door gets a silver-framed "50 YEARS OF DRIVING PERFORMANCE" logo in carbon fiber and even the seat belt have been emblazoned with AMG's "50 YEARS OF DRIVING PERFORMANCE" emblem.

The 6.2L hand-built V8 used in the "normal" GT3 carries over, but the Edition 50 benefits from a performance exhaust that does away with restrictors.

As a perk, each AMG GT3 Edition 50 will be delivered at the company's headquarters in Affalterbach. Buyers can also take part in a personal racetrack coaching session as part of the delivery ceremony. Buyers will also be treated to an Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition "50th Anniversary of Mercedes-AMG" watch courtesy of IWC Schaffhausen.

Of course the biggest difference between the AMG GT3 Edition 50 and the normal GT3 is volume. Mercedes will produce just five examples of the Edition 50, each with its own number badge, ensuring it'll be a hot item among AMG collectors.
