Does the new Bumblebee Camaro hint at a future vehicle?

Just one day after the automotive cast of Transformers 4 was caught on set at General Motors' Milford Proving Grounds, director Michael Bay has fully revealed one of the main stars of the upcoming movie.

Our spy shots revealed some interesting upcoming characters for Bay's new movie - including a race-inspired Corvette Stingray and a Bugatti Veyron - but what really caught our eye was a modified Chevrolet Camaro set to play the role of Bumblebee.

Bumblebee is typically based on a production-intent version of the Camaro, but the one spotted on set featured unique front-end styling unlike the 2014 version of the car. It was difficult to discern all of the details from our somewhat grainy spy shots - they were, after all, shot from about half-a-mile away - but Bay posted a high-resolution image of Bumblebee on his personal blog, giving us a clear look at the altered car.

The Bumblebee Camaro shares very little front end styling with the 2014 Camaro, ditching the production car's retro-inspired look for styling that actually appears to be more in line with the 130R concept car.

Interestingly, it has been rumored that Chevrolet will bring the 130R concept to life as the next-generation Camaro. The Bumblebee Camaro could be an early preview of that vehicle, but there is little in the way of hard evidence to make that kind of definitive connection.

Whatever the case, look for the latest Bumblebee Camaro to make its Big Screen appearance next summer when Transformers 4 hits theaters.
