MINI teases design sketches for production EV

The faux grille and bizarre wheels closely follow the bold concept vehicle.

MINI has posted the first design sketches previewing the brand's first all-electric car.

The closed hexagonal grille and bizarre asymmetrical wheels appear to closely follow design elements featured in the bold MINI Electric Concept, revealed late last year in Frankfurt.

The grille features a small 'E' badge, which will likely be used to identify all of MINI's pure battery-powered models.

"These initial sketches for the fully electrified MINI outline our vision of authentic design creating a bridge between the history of the brand and its electric future," says MINI design head Oliver Heilmer.

The 3-door EV will arrive in showrooms sometime next year, marking exactly 60 years since the classic Mini went on sale.
