The 'driver' flew overhead and controlled acceleration, brakes and steering using an unmodified PlayStation 4 controller.
Nissan has revealed a slightly different take on the 'driverless' car, building the GT-R/C as a full-scale remote control car.
The one-off project car was developed to be driven entirely by a PlayStation 4 controller, with four robotic actuators that operate the steering, transmission, brakes and throttle.
The company put GT Academy winner Jann Mardenborough behind the DualShock 4 controller, flying overhead in a Robinson R44 for a true helicopter view as the GT-R/C tackled a few laps at Silverstone.
Mardenborough reached 131 mph during his fastest lap, with an average driven speed of around 83 mph for the 1.6-mile loop circuit.
The GT-R/C will now visit schools around the UK to promote future careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
