The driver allegedly lost control when accelerating from a construction site traffic light.

A Pagani Huayra prototype has been involved in an accident in Germany.

The 37-year-old driver was attempting to accelerate from a construction site traffic light when he lost control and drove down an embankment, eventually coming to a stop after hitting a tree.

"According to initial estimates, the property damage amounts to several hundred thousand euros," police said in a press release.

The camouflaged prototype was registered in Germany and operating not far from Mercedes-AMG's Affalterbach headquarters. The Italian supercar is powered by an AMG-supplied V12.

The location suggests Pagani may be testing a new Huayra variant with more power than the BC edition, which boasts 750 horsepower.
