Both models were revised with better headlights to qualify for TSP+ honors.

Subaru's 2018 Crosstrek and WRX have both joined the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick Plus ranks. Both models already retained across-the-board 'good' ratings in all five IIHS crash scenarios, along with a 'superior' front crash prevention system, for the 2017 model year. The WRX and Crosstrek's headlights were considered 'marginal' and 'poor,' however, disqualifying both from the TSP+ club as the IIHS implemented tighter rules this year.

The 2018 WRX is now available with 'good' headlights, though only for the Limited package with EyeSight Driver Assist. The base and Premium trims' halogen reflectors are still deemed 'poor.'

The 2018 Crosstrek Limited with EyeSight Driver Assist has 'acceptable' headlights, while the halogen reflectors of lower trim levels received a 'poor' mark.

Subaru now has four different models in the TSP+ small-car category.
