Toyota teases 2018 Camry ahead of Detroit debutby Justin King
The taillights appear to integrate Prius-inspired vertical elements.
Toyota has released its first official teaser picture for the 2018 Camry, due to be unveiled in Detroit.
The zoomed-in shot focuses on the rear taillight, which appears to blend into a vertical styling element that resembles an air duct.
Aside from the redesigned taillights, the image hints at a more sculpted body with a few extra creases in the rear bodywork. In some ways the design hints at a slightly coupe-like or hatchback-inspired shape.
The new Camry will presumably be underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture platform, but specific details are being kept under wraps for now.
Toyota faces an uphill battle in retaining the Camry's position as the most popular model in the US market. The model could be due for a wider range of packages to attract new customers as many buyers shift toward higher-riding SUVs and crossovers.
