VW's five-star 2017 lineup also includes the other Golf models, Passat, Jetta and Beetle Coupe.

Volkswagen's 2017 Golf Alltrack has received a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's New Car Assessment Program. The rating appears to simply carry over test results from the 2016 Golf SportWagen (pictured), which also scored five stars.

The SportWagen received a four-star rating for the frontal crash scenario, with a slightly higher risk of injuries for the passenger. The vehicle earned five stars for the side-pole impact, with a five-star combined rating for the side barrier and side pole crashes.

The Alltrack joins other five-star NHTSA winners in the 2017 VW lineup including other Golf variants and the Passat, Jetta and Beetle coupe.

"The Alltrack was already highly anticipated, thanks to the combination of SportWagen design and all-wheel-drive performance, so this rating will add to the vehicle's appeal and allow us to grow volume in the marketplace," said VW of America marketing VP Joerg Sommer.
