The all-new Jetta is the latest sedan to be significantly overhauled to better compete in the struggling segment.
Volkswagen has released teaser sketches of its all-new 2019 Jetta, scheduled to make its first public appearance next month.
Like the latest Honda Accord and upcoming Toyota Avalon, the Jetta appears to have been significantly overhauled with a much bolder styling to help revive interest as the sedan segment continues to struggle against popular SUVs.
An Automotive News report suggests VW's best-selling model will pair an attractive styling enhancement with improved driving dynamics and modern technology. It is the latest nameplate to adopt the MQB platform, with a more efficient powertrain than the current model.
"It's so important that it's our high-volume car, so this car has high volume expectations, so we really put a lot in there necessary to make it a great concept," said VW of America chief Hinrich Woebcken. "It's the only German-engineered car in that segment."
The 2019 Jetta will be revealed at the Detroit auto show.
