With improved headlights, Kia Sedona regains Top Safety Pickby Justin King
Top trim packages now earn a 'good' headlight rating, while the entry-level configurations are still rated 'poor.'
The 2018 Kia Sedona has rejoined the Top Safety Pick ranks after receiving improved optional headlights.
The HID projectors available on top trim levels built after May 2017 are among the few headlight systems to receive a 'good' rating, providing adequate illumination without causing excessive glare for oncoming drivers, though the halogen headlights on the entry-level models still receive the worst rating.
"The Sedona's standard halogen headlights are rated poor," the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says. "They provide inadequate visibility in some scenarios and also produce excessive glare for drivers of oncoming vehicles."
The Sedona earned 'good' ratings in all crashworthiness tests since its last redesign for the 2015 model year. It hasn't been rated yet for a passenger-side small-overlap test, required to join the Top Safety Pick Plus ranks.
