Volvo teases fans with new C30 details

Volvo has updated its website with a new teaser for the forthcoming C30 hatch. Built on the same platform as the S40, the C30 is widely expected to take on the general shape of Volvo's 2001 Safety Concept Car (SCC). But according to the company's write-up, its design may also be influenced by the more recent 3CC concept (shown right). It's a safe bet this means the 3CC's most striking yet realistic design elements -- its headlights and front fascia -- will make it to the C30. Recently, Volvo's new head designer, Steve Mattin, said he feels the company needs more aggressive and distinctive headlights for all of its cars. The 3CC's would certainly fill that void. (See also: Top Gear's in-depth look at the 3CC). Volvo also said in its new teaser that availabillity for the Volvo C30 is set for late 2006. However, a C30 Design Concept "might be shown much earlier." The SCC concept was first shown at the Detroit auto show in 2001. The 3CC was shown at last year's Detroit event. Will this year's show in January bring act III?
