Porsche considering 'elemental' roadster?

Porsche may be planning a successor to the 914, according to Road and Track. Described as an "elemental" roadster, the car would be based on the Boxster platform, only lighter, smaller and cheaper. The Spartan interior, plus light alloy and carbon-fiber materials throughout the chassis and body would keep overall weight to just 2650 lb. Volkswagen's turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TFSI engine "” tuned to 230 bhp "” would provide plenty of thrills while keeping performance below that of the Boxster.
