Dr. Phil to auction Porsche, Ferrari

The South Florida Expo Center will host two exclusive sports cars owned by international television personality Dr. Phil McGraw during the fourth annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event. The outspoken psychologist's pristine Ferrari 360 Spider and rare Gemballa Porsche 911 Turbo will set hearts aflutter during the automotive lifestyle event, which includes a gala, vendor displays and three days of no reserve auction excitement from Thursday, March 30 through Saturday, April 1, 2006. Television coverage will be provided by the Speed Channel. "Documented celebrity cars always fetch a great deal of attention at our auctions," Craig Jackson, president and CEO of The Barrett-Jackson Auction Co., said. "And when they're two of the most phenomenal sports cars in the world, they attract even more attention. Dr. Phil certainly had an eye for quality and rarity when he purchased these two beauties."

The first of the two sports cars is a 2002 Ferrari 360 Spider that Dr. Phil bought as a gift to himself after learning that his television show would be aired nationally. Featuring chrome modular wheels, a stunning titanium paint, Challenge Stradale grills and a blue top with matching interior, it is one of the best-looking 360s on the road. The car's F-1 style paddle shifter helps put the enormous 400 horsepower to the road, making it an incredibly fast and capable supercar.

The other Dr. Phil-owned car is a 2001 Gemballa Porsche Turbo. A pristine specimen with only 8,159 miles, the Gemballa Turbo comes with every option available, including a Tiptronic transmission, heated seats, hand-crafted wheels and an upgraded suspension. The Gemballa package pumps up the performance of the twin-turbo beast while giving the Porsche a more aggressive stance, which helps improve cornering and stopping capabilities.

Both the Ferrari and Porsche are heavily documented. The new owner of each car will receive a letter of authenticity and proof of Dr. McGraw's ownership.

"These are not two just ordinary celebrity cars," Jackson added. "They're performance icons. From the Ferrari's 400 horsepower to the Gemballa's upgraded suspension and braking system, they represent some of the greatest European exotics and are definitely a cure for the blues."
