New details on VW Golf VI, Golf R36

The new sixth-generation Volkswagen Golf (now known as the Rabbit here) has been spied in testing. While the images don't reveal too much about the car's design, it's obvious the new model will look quite different. Meanwhile, AutoExpress is reporting that the much-rumored R36 Golf will debut in mid- or late-2007. It will mark the last major push for the fifth-generation Golf, before the new model is introduced in 2008. The R36 will cost around $2000 more than then R32, and will have a 3.6 liter V6 from the Passat. It will put out between 280 and 300 horsepower.
