Researchers match faces to cars

Psychologists at Julius-Maximilians University in Wurzburg, Germany say they can match a person’s face to their favorite car 70 percent of the time. The researchers say previous studies show people can accurately gauge some personality traits, like extroversion, from photos of strangers. In the study, researchers photographed 60 men and women from the waist up and then photographed their cars from BMWs and Audis to Opels, Fords and Volkswagens. The students then matched cars to owners. [Full NYT article requires subscription].

works most of the time… until I see a guy driving a Pontiac Grand Am or a Saturn Ion, then I question his sexuality :) And once in awhile I’ll see a woman driving a huge truck.

Aye, I imagine anyone whose favourite is a ‘58 BMW Isetta is a pug. Imagine if someone actually said, “You know what, my favourite car is Ssangyong Stavic.” I’d grab the closest blunt object.

I am thus the new Jaguar XKR. The new XK, but more muscle. Roll on September!

Thing is though, I’m adopted. I managed to find my real parents though; I had some DNA tests done a while back, and I discovered: My dad was a 1961 Bentley Continental Series 2 Fastback and my mom was a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB4! Who would’ve thought!
