New Dodge Crossover set for 2008

Dodge will get a new crossover to compete with the Ford Edge and Toyota Highlander for 2008, according to a published report. The model -- known by the JC49 internal code -- will be built in Mexico starting in late, reports Automotive News. Described by Chrysler insiders as a "new concept crossover," the automaker hopes to differentiate the vehicle from regular crossovers. Pricing is expected to start around $20,000, with a volume target of 150,000 yearly. A Chrysler version -- codenamed JZ49 -- may also be built for the 2010 model year. The new crossovers will be based on the same platform as the 2007 Chrysler Sebring, and forthcoming Dodge Avenger.
