Bullitt Mustang, V6 Lincoln MKS, new F-150 in the cards

Following Ford's announcement of an accelerated Way Forward restructuring plan, executive Mark Fields gave a speech this morning detailing specific future product plans. He confirmed the Ford Five Hundred, Ford Freestyle, and Mercury Montego would all be updated early next year with more aggressing styling. Additionally, the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner will be redesigned in early 2007. He also said a revised Focus was in the works with new interior and exterior styling. He said a new special edition Mustang would debut every year, with a Bullitt model coming in 2008. Also arriving in 2008 will be a redesigned Ford F-150, Fields said. As widely anticipated, a crossover/van based on the Fairlane concept will go on sale in 2008. As previously announced, side-impact airbags and stability control will be standard on all models by 2009. On the Lincoln front, Fields confirmed rumors that the MKS will arrive with an exclusive 3.7-liter V6 engine, rather than the originally-anticipated V8. Lastly, he said Ford will offer B- and C-segment compact cars in America in 2009.
