Toyota has released some initial imagery of the 2007 Toyota Corolla, which will go on sale in Japan next week. The car was first previewed less than two weeks ago at the Paris Motor Show with the 2007 Auris Space Concept.
Today’s photos show the redesigned Corolla sedan — now known as the Corolla Axio — and completely redesigned Corolla Fielder small station wagon. The production hatchback — based on the Auris concept — has yet to be unveiled. So far, there has been no word on when the car(s) will come to America. Low-res gallery after the jump…

I like the interiors, but the exterior is a disappointment especially after the design jump Toyota made with the new Camry. The outside just looks like a slightly smoother, more aerodynamic old Corrolla.

Exterior reminds me of a 5 year old Mazda design however it does what Toyota does best; conservative and safe. (aka BORING)

The interior looks really sweet…especially the HVAC controls. It’s nice to see someone do something other than three knobs (which might be on the base model anyways). The front end doesn’t suck (I really don’t like Toyota front ends); it actually looks nice. Almost Mercury-ish, I think.
The exterior is way better than the last gen. Looks closer to a Lexus, really. The door handles are close to the RX350. I think the C pillar could be a bit more rounded? Not sure.
An improvement, which can only be good for the ‘Rolla and Toyota.

I actually like the station wagon version better than the sedan. Doubt we’ll get it stateside though. It’s a much needed improvement over the old (current) Corolla and if brought to the US I’m sure it will sell in record numbers.

YAWWWWNNNN! Man….will Toyota ever discover style? I mean come on, Honda’s Civic at least looks different from generation to generation and has a lil bit of style. This thing is definately too safe in its design execution. It is BLAND…. I mean it could be any late 90’s car…. disappointing since supposedly Toyota delayed it to redesign it some after they saw the new Civic. I would hate to have seen what it looked like before!

It’s not remarkably interesting on the outside, but it’s classy. People were absolutely in love with the Fusion when that came out, and I think this car has a similar shape but pulls it off better. But I do think this rear end looks cheap.
I bet it’s designed this way BECAUSE of the Civic. The Civic is the opposite: rounded, sleek, aggressive, a little too radical for people who just want ‘a car’. So Toyota made the perfect car for that crowd.

Conservative styling, economical, affordable, unparalleled in perceived reliability, - it’ll sell like crazy, as always. The current Corolla and derivatives, as long in the tooth as it is has moved 306k in the first 9 months of this year. Anyone have any reason to think that will change? I don’t. I can’t help but laugh at the people who can’t accept this car for what it is - affordable, anonymous transportation.
Ic3puppy - comparing a Corolla to a Magnum? Does your mommy take you to cross-shop tricycles when your looking for a new bicyle as well? Once again proving how out of touch you are… I know you can spew far better anti-Toyota trash than that, howabout some of that racism that you normally love to share?

The wagon looks huge, Like 1990 Accord wagon big. The car overall has definitely grown in size from the outgoing model. The interior is quite impressive for a compact.
Should sell very well.

Random Jerk (or is it Targeted Jerk?
), ease up on the meth there, I know you get a kick out of it, but it’s ruining your thinking. We all know this is another toaster from Toy Ota, whether you choose to accept that or not is irrelevant.

Yes, conservative and not my style, but it sure has better proportions than the present generation. Looks more substantial also. For the run of the mill commuting it will fill the bill.

I’m pretty sure this is just a refresh of the current model in Japan, not the fully redesigned model for the US.

US and Europe get a new design based on the Auris concept and a 2.0 engine.

Looks like Toyota opted to copy the Kia Rio after plagiarizing BMWs and Mercedes! And the Koreans thought that only they can copy designs from other makes LoL! The only good thing is the interior which looks like a junior Camry but it is still boring to look.

Lucier, most cars that Ford, for example, makes, are boring and plain and appliances, ever heard of the focus, of the taurus, the expedition, explorer, explorer sport trac, the crown victoria, the 500, etc. toyota gets a bad rap but most other manufacturers dont do too much better if you look at it objectively, you biased idiot
