Nissan has released photography and U.S. pricing information on the 2007 350Z sports car. The most notable change for the 2007 model is the introduction of a new, more powerful, 3.5-liter V6 engine, rated at 306 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque with both the close-ratio 6-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmissions. The new VQ engine features nearly 80% redesigned major parts.
For 2007, the 350Z is available in four models – 350Z 6MT, 350Z Enthusiast, 350Z Touring and 350Z Grand Touring. Starting MSRP for the 350Z Coupe with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission is $27,900. The Enthusiast model adds cruise control, Traction Control, Viscous Limited Slip Differential (VLSD), aluminum pedals and more, and is available in a 6-speed manual configuration starting at $29,600 for the coupe and $35,550 for the roadster, or in a 5-speed automatic configuration starting at $30,600 for the coupe and $36,550 for the roadster.
The 350Z Touring model is available with a 6-speed manual starting at $32,700 for the coupe or $37,900 for the roadster, and with a 5-speed auto starting at $33,200 for the coupe and $38,900 for the roadster. Touring models add a 7-speaker Bose audio system and heated power leather seats. Nissan 350Z Coupe Grand Touring models start at $36,100 for the 6-speed coupe or $40,250 for the roadster, and $37,100 for the 5-speed auto coupe, or $41,250 for the roadster. The package adds lightweight alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, Brembo brakes and VDC for both the manual and automatic transmissions. Gallery after the jump…

So the enthusiast version adds traction control? Interesting thought, and probably a play for the aspiring race driver wannabe market. It’s a shame they didn’t get rid of the awful ‘cheap eastern refrigerator’ door handles and rework the Z brace in the back that completely blocks and reflects into the rear window, but lets face it - the old one was a great car and even though this isn’t remarkably different on the outside it’ll still probably be just as good.

Here in Michigan, you’re an f’n loser if you drive a Nissan. They are more commonly found on the back of flatbeds than on the streets. Solstices and Sky’s slaughter these things daily while still being bulletproof reliable and built like gold.
The only thing more trashy than the 350Z is the crappy mazda Miata, but those aren’t really sportscars either.

It did get a big update - from an engineering perspective. As for styling, it’s still pretty current, but then that’s a matter of opinion. Maybe Nissan has seen the latest barf-fests from DCX and is concerned about losing the target audiance the way Dodge and Chrysler have been slowly but surely.

LLN needs to have an age limit to get rid of all the under 16 crowd that posts here. Why does the internet attract people that say “f looser” and use “n” instead of “and”? Who uses Gold as a symbol of strength? It’s one of, if not the softest, metals out there. Sigh, oh well.
As for the 350Z I think it would have been nice if they sacrificed some hp for down low torque. It wouldn’t win them the “hp war” but would help with the acceleration and undoubtedly the power curve. I haven’t seen the dyno for the new VQ, but if it’s anything like the old one a flatter power delivery would be welcome.

This is coming from someone that owns GM products and works for a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep store. As for GM reliability its just as good as a Toyota as far as I’m concerned, I haven’t had any problems with mine. Lol. And that’s why Michigan blows.
I love how two of my friends both owned different model, different year Pontiacs but they both had the same problems. And after we disassembled their doors to fix the power windows, they were using ****ty stone-age pulley technology - WITHOUT the pulley. Awesome. And then when we ordered replacement parts, one from an official parts seller, and one from some cheap Chinese oem store, the Chinese part had the decency to improve the design with a pulley.

Take it back. Dallas is infinitely better than anywhere in Michigan. You can walk around downtown Dallas with out getting shot or asked if you want to purchase drugs. Detroit has GM’s headquarters, the Cobo Conference Center and, the largest collection of crummy run down buildings in the USA. Thats it!

aside from this Michigan bull**** how about discussing the 350Z. its a great car but it does have many problems. it’s over priced, overweight, and and from a perspective poorly designed. The problem with this car is that Nissan wants it too due to much. Each element of the car had different intentions so to speak. Like the car has a great exterior which hints its a luxurious sports car. the interior is ****ty, and does not match the exterior of the car. the engine was pretty much intended for another car cuz it has no torque and all horsepower. more torque would be idle for the acceleration and if used properly would help a lot with the handling. like someone already said it has traction control and i don’t know why. i think it is cuz if it doesn’t have traction control it would sound bad when being advertised. people believe that traction control is something good. the car being advertised to too many demographics and Nissan is losing focus as a company when it comes to this car. this car has great potential if Nissan can get a grip and try to stay focused. and GMnumberone4ever your a fuking moron for thinking that a Miata is a ****ty car.

^^You’re right about the exterior updates. People look for that first, and then the “under the skin” changes are an added bonus once the vehicle is purchased. You need the exterior changes to get people into the showroom sometimes (not enthusiasts, mind you, I’m talking general public). Not crazy about the pricing, either. No way do I want to pay $40,000 for one of these.
As for all the Michigan comments…why do any of you bother with GMRules or whatever his current name is? He’s only posting stuff like that to stir the pot. Most of the time, he’s dead wrong. I’ve lived in Michigan for over 20 years, and there are plenty of imports on the road that are not the target of vandalism on a daily basis. Sure, there are the die-hards around who only buy domestic, but you have to keep in mind that some of the domestic vehicles are company-provided (GM does this for the 8th level and above employees), or the person got a great employee discount on the vehicle. Considering the deals to be had between the employee discount and the incentives, you’d be crazy to buy anything else. Unless, of course, you really like paying tons of money for your vehicle.
FYI for those of you in Michigan, if you don’t believe me about the company vehicles, take a look at the lower left corner of the windshield on a GM vehicle the next time you see it on the road. If there’s a little barcode label there, then it’s a GM-provided vehicle. They put regular plates on them so that it doesn’t look like they are company provided and so that the general public will see the vehicles on the road and maybe be intrigued.

Hmm. Not excited about this update. I have a 350z and am biased so take this with a grain of salt.
I disagree with you all on the price. 40k for a roadster (coupe is 36K) that can beat a Porsche Boxter? Not bad. Note that the enthusiast can be had for less than 30k.
The hp rating IS getting silly. They keep dropping torque to up hp. Torgue gets you off the line- HP helps you pull at the top end. I doubt that most Z drivers will ever see the 6hp that was added but they’ll feel the torque at every light and every shift. Some say the update smooths out the engine. Whatever
I think the 3.5VQ engine works extremely well in the Z -giving it the right compromise of power and efficiency as compared to gas guzzling V8’s and Turbo/Superchargers. Also Traction Control is great on a RWD in the wet. The VDC sucks though

I could hardly pick out ANY changes in the looks of the new one. I’d still take a G35 over it any day. Even a IS350 with it’s bland styling will, at least, kick its ass in a straight line.
I love the VQ engine. The 4 liter in my Frontier would have been perfect in the new Z, tuned for more hp it could have put out 330hp and still made 280lbft.

Evo and STi are not competiors to the 350Z. Evo is a FWD or AWD rally car. STI, AWD rally car. The FWD Mitsubishi Eclipse is suppose to be the competition, but fails terribly.
Jazz, I hear ya. It’s a great car. In fact, it’s pretty amazing considering that the 350Z shares it’s platform with the Infiniti FX. Personally I drive an XTerra Offroad and that thing hauls ass. And that weighs a half ton more! I’ve driven the Enthusiast edition and it’s great. I’m not sure what people expect for $30k, but take a look at what’s on the market in that price point and I think they’ll find a new fondness for what the 350Z offers.
If I hear any more about ‘plastics’, I’m gonna puke. Cost benefit analysis… I’d rather have performance and quality over having some designer plastic interior that makes me feel warm and cozy. What else do you want? Leather and precious metals??

I rather spend $32k on a touring model V6 then a $34k EVO-Mr thats a 4 banger. If anything I would get the WRX-STI because of there great boxer engine. Subaru is also one of those underated car lines.
Nissan Product which to some may not know this, but its the Product line of choice in Japan due to its racing heritage, Realiability, and of course durability…not Honda, Not Toyota, Not even Subaru or Mitsubishi has the rep that Nissan has.
