Early look: Pontiac G8 previewed

General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner used his appearance on ABC's World News Tonight with Charles Gibson to preview the 2008 Pontiac G8. The G8 is a rebadged version of the new Holden VE Commodore.





As originally expected, the G8 appears very similar to the Commodore, only with a Pontiac-style grille. The sneak peek goes against recent rumors that the G8 would get front end styling similar to the popular Solstice roadster. The Automotive News report even indicated the car would get unique styling from the A-pillar forward.

As it turns out, there may be some truth to a Detroit Free Press story that claimed the G8 will first get a Pontiac grille only, and later get unique styling when production is moved to Canada.
