From Shaker to Shakedown: Dodge adds new heritage options

2018 also marks the return of Plum Crazy and B5 Blue.

Dodge is returning to the heritage well for its 2018 Challenger and Charger models, highlighting its retro suite with a new "Shakedown" package inspired by the Shakedown Challenger show car it displayed at SEMA.

The namesake package is easily identified by the stripes it shares with the Shakedown Challenger. It's based (appropriately) on existing Shaker hood trims (R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker and Scat Pack Shaker) and also includes an Alpine audio upgrade and white-faced gauges. You can get the Shakedown package with any color, but if you're a geek for Dodge's heritage paints, there's more good news. Plum Crazy and B5 Blue are both returning for 2018.

Charger fans are out of luck when it comes to the Shakedown package, but they do get access to the heritage paint options. In fact, all 2018 Charger models are available in either color as of this publication. Challenger customers who want either will have to spring for a T/A package in the near-term, but they will eventually trickle down to other trims as the production run goes on.

Dodge has cycled through a number of its heritage paint colors since the Charger and Challenger nameplates were reintroduced. Over the course of the past decade, we've seen both Plum Crazy and B5 Blue return several times, and they remain very popular with Mopar enthusiasts.
