Kevin Verduyn, head of Chrysler’s U.S. design operations, stated over the weekend that his company currently has no plans to produce the recently leaked Challenger Concept. The car is expecting to debut in concept form that the Detroit auto show in January, and recent spy photos revealed a completely undisguised prototype. Verduyn does point out, however, that there has been a massive interest in the car since the spy photos began circulating online. One can only assume Verduyn is playing it safe, and leaving any official announcement of production to the appropriate executives. Should the Challenger go into production, Verduyn says he thinks it should remain two-door. That would make sense, considering the Dodge Charger fills the four-door muscle car segment.

For those of us who either owned or remembers the 70 Challenger, I know my heart was racing when I read Chrysler would bring out a concept car based on that year, and go into production. What a slap in the face to hear now there are no plans to do that!*##*!!! Here’s hoping there is enough interest to change their minds.

Hey Kevin Verduyn,
If you build it, I will sell my 05 Dakota in a heartbeat and buy one. I almost moved up to a Charger last weekend, but when I found out about the Challenger, my decision was made. If Chrysler is going to continue building gas guzzling Hemi charged muscle cars, at least do us the decency and give us the designs we want. I have been waiting for this exact car to be redesigned and released for years, and the prototype images I am seeing are EXACTLY what I was hoping for, so if you don’t do it, you’re a @)*&in’ MORON!!

why design it if they won’t make it. Are they nuts. Read all the wants from all that love the look of the car.Are they just plain out to kill the american market? If this car is not made then there is a plan to have the usa fail all around. If that is the plan grab your guns boys and girls and head for the hills. If this car is not made something is very wrong andit’s not with us little guys. must be a republican conspiracy
