After numerous spy shots and the leaking of a pair of official photos, Chevrolet has released official photography of its upcoming 2010 Cruze well ahead of its Paris Motor Show release. The Cruze, which will replace the compact Cobalt, is expected to be sold world-wide.
As expected, the Cruze takes styling cues from the new Malibu, and promises to be a much sharper car than the current Cobalt. Chief designer Taewan Kim says that the new Cruze’s design is meant to be “bold, not evolutionary. We wanted to take a big step forward, making a strong design statement for Chevrolet products around the world.”
The car will hit the European market in March of 2009, with U.S. production at the Lordstown, Ohio, plant where the Cobalt is currently made beginning in June 2010. Although the Cruze will replace the Cobalt, GM will likely produce both vehicles for a short time together.
At its European launch, the Cruze will offer a 16-valve, 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 112 horsepower and a 140 horse 1.8 liter. Both gasoline engines will feature variable valve timing on both the inlet and exhaust sides. Also available for Europe, though not expected in the United States, is a 2.0 liter turbo diesel putting out 150 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque (official lb-ft. figures weren’t released, but we’d expect approximately 235 lb-ft). Transmission choices will include a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
Based on what was once called the Delta 2 platform, the all-new Cruze will ride on GM’s Global Compact Vehicle Architecture. The primary engineering and development will come from GMDAT — General Motor’s Korean partner (although there has been strong input from the North American and European planning groups).
Codenamed GMX071, the Cruze shares many components as well as styling features with the next Daewoo Lacetti, including a large portion of sheetmetal.
Obviously Chevrolet’s Cruze and the Daewoo Lacetti will not be completely identical, as each will have different styling cues on the front and rear clips, headlamps and taillights.
Chevrolet will also offer another version for markets outside of the United States, known as the Optra. In addition to these, there will likely be up to 15 different cars for GM’s global markets based on this new “Global Delta” architecture.

I think it’s tacky that an American car company has a foreign license plate on the image’s of the car. I still think this car is LAME. Another boring car from a company that just can’t get their head out of their @$$.
It’s a definite improvement over the Cobalt…kinda BMW-Bangle ish looking with the curves and hard creases.
It’s by far the best looking small car from GM. No mention of Europe getting the 1.4L direct injection turbo. Wonder if north america will get the diesel. This has the potential to be a great car. What will it cost though???
The exterior of a small cheve car is finally reasonble… now all they have to do is really get 40 m.p.g. and put a good interior in it… Please Cheve, don’t be dumb…. just put a good interior, it could save your life.
^^ I agree. Although I don’t think it quite needs to hit 40 mpg (although that would be nice). 35mpg and an interior on par with the new Malibu could make this the first GM small car even worth considering over a Civic/Corolla.
Hemi, just what do u consider an exciting car in this class then. In fact what actual cars do u like full stop?
Ok you must be the new guy. If my name doesn’t tell you I like muscle cars then I don’t know what will. The new Challenger, Camaro, Corvette, Viper, G8, Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, hmmmm that’s probably it for new cars because most are just BS hyped up milf mobiles. The point is, there are NO exiting cars in this class. This car looks NO different than the basic look of the Cobalt. They add a little change here and there and think they have an instant winner, when in fact in just look like a smaller Malibu. What pisses me off is instead of just admitting they copied the malibu and made it smaller, GM acts like they actually put THOUGHT into this pos.
Well wait to the car actually comes out and is reviewed before bashing it. GM has been releasing some excellent vehicles recently…..who’s to say this one won’t continue that trend? Especially given the importance of it. The G8, Malibu, CTS, Lambdas, Sky, Astra, the entire Opel range are all great vehicles. ANd lets not forget the Camaro itself which has stayed so close to the concept its hard to tell them apart and it looks stunning both inside and out.
Not to mention the cars that are imminent..CTS Wagon and coupe, Cruze, SRX and Buick Invicta, chevy beat…. I think even most haters would have to admit, product wise, GM has pulled a few rabbits outta the hat. I say kudos to them..glad to see them getting their act together.
“Another boring car from a company that just can’t get their head out of their @$$.”
HemiRoadRunner, am I nuts, or did I just hear that from a Chrysler fan? If it’s not a car in a class you look to own, why bitch? They’re not made for you, they’re made for milfs…. so milf-mobile makes sense, no? (Sebring anyone?) Show me one thing on this car, besides the badge and the fact that it has doors and windows, that it shares with the Cobalt. You get less and less credible every time you post.
What can I say? This from the company who gave us the Cavalier. And this actually might look better than the Malibu, which it definitely does from the rear. I hate the 90’s Suzuki arse they put on the ‘Bu.
Good job, GM. BTW, it has Euro plates because it’s being released at the Paris Auto Show and will hit European streets before North American.
It cannot understand why so many modern cars have those black triangles on their C-pillars; Sebring, Mazda6, MkZ, and now this. I think it looks absolutely awful and spoils an otherwise good design.
Somebody help me out here - please.
A couple of minor gripes:
1) Why does GM continue to let their old models live on even after its so-called replacement is in production? If this is the replacement for the Cobalt then just let it replace it.
2) Why do we in North America still have to wait almost 2 full years before this hits dealers, a full year behind the European launch date?
c) Diesel, diesel, where for art thou diesel? You don’t know if you don’t try- bring it here.
Not bad looking, but not great looking either. Kind of like purgatory. They should have gone back to the Cavalier name, but whatever. Also, just as canuck said … wtf is the diesel offering? Oh wait, that’s right, no foresight to make a 50 state legal diesel.
crownvic, it’s usually so the windows can roll down, but still have the illusion of a full side window. However, this application is puzzling because there are 3 sections instead of 2. My guess is that that last little piece is plastic to hide some structural sheetmetal in that little corner. Personally, they could’ve let the greenhouse just end there and it would’ve looked fine.
Oldraven, mind your owning ****ing buisiness. Why are you defending a pos car. Is your life that perfect that you can get your panties in a wad because I don’t like a particular car? As far as bashing this car goes, that’s what this blog is for, it’s MY PERSONAL FEEDBACK. If you don’t like it, then fine, don’t like it. But don’t tell me what to say or not say. This car looks like a copy of the malibu, period. It doesn’t look different, edgy, fun, exiting etc. It looks like a run of the mill econobox and GM is making a big to do about it. BORING!
OOPs..i just noticed that third piece is after the shutline. Well, that makes it more puzzling, but I guess someone really wanted the C-pillar to look thin or something.
I must say, the exterior is an upgrade from GM’s previous models in this class.. Is it just me or does the taillights look gigantic? I think the exterior trumps what toyota and honda currently have but the interior as pointed out is the deal breaker.. reliability and built will improve over time so I would hold off.. slap a diesel, price it right, and GM could be right back in the game.. Mazda 3 needs to step up and deliver..
I wana see the coupe version!
HEMI
-Oldraven was simply pointing out that you had no real reason to bash the car. It might do what it’s supposed to do (draw buyers from civics and corollas) very well.
This blog was created for discussion, not so we can be graced by your personal feedback… especially seeing as it usually doesn’t make any sense and includes several ” *****ing”
You made a ridiculous comment that didn’t provide anyone here with anything, and Oldraven was disagreeing with you. You my friend, sound like the one with panties in a wad.
By the way, you will respond to this with…. I don’t care, I don’t have to explain myself to anyone.
I’m a real boy! (movie reference)
or something like that…
Whao…the side and the tail look real ugly!
That C pillar and doors are the same on the Ion. No real change just a different from clip.
The car looks like **** in my opinion. That is what your arguement is about, me bashing a car that I don’t like. It’s not just the look, it’s the fact that GM is so uncreative in their designs for anything other than the camaro and corvette. If this is your dream car, then go check it out. If not, then shut up and honor my right to type whatever I want about LLN news articles.
[Edited by Leftlane staff] Hemi, we enjoy your contributions… please keep your comments on topic and mature. Thanks!
And just as I predicted your response included several ****
Seriously, though, I mean no offense. Yes you’re welcome to write whatever you want… but you could write something that offers some new info… or a new thought. Same principal as… I could go out and buy a barry manilow cd, but isn’t there something better?
thing is, this is exactly the car that the “sheeple” masses are going to buy. The more they sell, the more money they can put into the next camaro/corvette design, the cars we really like. So why bash…. its the money behind the good stuff. It has to be generic for utility purposes. Its a small cheap car
Did they just edit you Hemi? That’s the first time i’ve seen that
Way to stick it to the man!
That is a very Very VERY nice looking cheap ride! Good job, GM!
Acutally, HomoRR is the dumb guy on this foru.
You can find his myspace here to confirm: http://www.myspace.com/hemiroadrunner
decent car for a chevywoo that is.
It looks like it has a nose bleed and looks like a shrunken version of the chevywoo Epica
Hemi, I didn’t tell you what to say or not to say. I asked you to explain your bull**** (comparing this to a cobalt), which you failed to do. You said a bunch of stuff that I felt was wrong so I pointed it out. You do the same thing on here constantly to other posters, so maybe you should take some of that kind advice yourself. It looks like the Malibu………… BECAUSE IT’S A CHEVY! Family design traits. This is not something new in the industry. All the money in the auto industry is being made on these cars right now. EVERYBODY is making a big deal about their econoboxes. You’d have to be a fool not to push your economy car right now. Also consider this is debuting in Paris, where most people drive this exact class of car or smaller. The same can be said for most of Europe. It makes perfect sense to load this car up with as much attention as you can.
As to the plastic piece, every time a car comes out with a rear window that drops down you hear the same thing. “They’re ripping off BMW’s Hoffmeister kink.” No, seriously, that’s all Car and Driver can talk about. I’m sure this is just a way of not evoking that knee-jerk criticism.
I still think it’s a great car, for what it is. Though I can only comment on the looks. Someone said it should be able to achieve 35mpg. I’d say the first goal posted of 40 would be a better aim, since the Cobalt XFE is capable of 37. An XFE Cruze should be able to coax that extra 3mpg over the Cobalt.
enough with the retard myspace already- $hit is old, time for a refresh
this car would be slated by europeans when it debuts in paris. totally average
Not bad, but not exciting. Is that the Euro top-line version in the photo? If so, you know ours will be down market. I agree with Nightblack (post #4). GM has the chance of making a comeback if the interior is worth sitting in.
damn this thing is cool…it looks like a cross betweeen an (gulp) audi and saturn. this might actually get folks to consider American again. nice job GM
I like it, design is nice kind of like a tsx made love to a malibu. Like previously stated if GM can put together some sort of interior and keep the 2.0 diesel without injector problems this will be a good product I think. Also i like how they are doing different engines then the ecotec, somethin with VVT that will make 140hp without having to be bigger than 2.0l. If the don’t screw us on those options this might actually be a success.
The renderings of this car always look so much better than the real thing. With 140hp this thing isn’t going to even be able to get out of its own way.
I just hope they stuff the LNF into it… might be this car’s only saving grace.
I kinda like it. Looks better and less girly than the Cobalt anyway. Just a little more power would be cool.
jonnycannuck- They do it to squeeze some more retail out’a them. The more they sell of course the larger the profit, and so if they can make a few more after the Cruze runs out, that’s all fine. One compliments the other, as long as the new one is improved. It gives you a little bit of choice I suppose, instead of buying used. But the biggest reason is just to squeeze some more profit out of them.
I DON’T like it. I think the pictures flatter it, as they do with the current Daewoo model. Compare this to the Civic, and it’s years behind. Same with Ford’s Focus, about on the same level. The Corolla is even farther behind with it’s outdated suspension and transmission.
Am I saying it should be radical like the Civic? Nope, I’d just like to see Chevrolet put some character into their small cars, similar to the Beat. I for one really like the Malibu’s rear tail lights, it’s very clean looking and different without being quirky.
It looks quite goiod. Stupid name, tho.
Cobalt us better than cavalier is better than scitation/vega. thius tops ‘em all.
it is smart 2 sell the Cruze & Cobalt 2gether.
bring the turbodiesel 2 the US!
This is not a Lacetti, or a boring car f
This would only B the latests GM small carworth considering over a Civic/Corolla, not the 1st.
the Mazda3 and the mini R the only exciting cars in this class, & the mini may not B in this class, depending on your rules.
I like muscle cars, 2. GTO, Chevelle SS and Superbird from te old days & Charger & Mustang from 2day. Plus Camarosafter that last redesighn
GM has been releasing some excellent vehicles recently…. this will continue that trend
The G8, Malibu, CTS, Lambdas, Sky, Astra, the entire Opel range are all great vehicles.
I wood add that Opel wagon 2 the lust of 4thcomming gr8s.
T&C or Honda pilot is a tru MILFmobile
GM should continue 2 let their old models live on even after so-called replacements R in production so people can C how much better the new 1 is.
They should not have gone back to the Cavalier name — that car was not good. Michielle Wie is cute, but skinny.
I think the entire car trumps what toyota and honda currently have b
the coupe version will sell the most
barry manilow sucks. Tony benet dows not.
Ever company is makinhg its small car lookj like its mass-market car Centra/altima? Camrolla?
I like how I’m always the one getting edited by the pissy @$$ LLN blog cops. Waaaaahhhhhhhhh, I don’t like your opinion. Funny how everyone else can curse and type whatever they want. Mark Elias, did they reveal in your interview with Fasttie.com that you were a blog cop homo?
I’m kind of liking the exterior. It still looks like an appliance, but with a flair to it. I guess you could liken the Corolla to a standard Whirlpool or Maytag washer and dryer set, and the Cruze looks more like the nice and fancy Red Cherry LG set.
Jeez!
anti-believer, this car and the old ION are on completely different platforms. While the basic shape of the rear pillar in relationship to the greenhouse might be a little similar, these are totally different cars on different platforms with totally different sheetmetal. The Hyundai Sonata has a similar rear roof design. Is that based on the ION, too?
crownvic, I’m with you on the black plastic triangles. I hate ‘em, too. The Lincoln MKZ has them, as well. YUCK.
johnnycanuck,
1) GM’s strategy of letting the old model live on to flog off to rental fleets is genius, actually. That way, GM can build the higher-margin non-fleet models to pay off its tooling amortization costs faster. Since there is so much volume tied to the Cobalt’s production, it also allows for a slower ramp-up to ensure higher quality in the first models.
2) It’ll only be 15 months between the Euro launch and the American launch, by the way. And the reason for the difference is that this car is replacing the current Lacetti in Europe, which is older than the Cobalt, so it’s going out of production sooner.
c) Diesel regs are SO MUCH HIGHER here than they are in Europe, and so the engines have to have a ridiculous amount of emissions equipment on them to comply for all 50 states. That makes the diesel (which is already twice as expensive to make as a gas engine) much, much more complex and therefore expensive. And, with diesel prices MUCH higher than petrol prices, there’s no way it’s a good idea for GM to offer an expensive diesel, running on expensive fuel, in a car that has a low profit margin and is designed to be inexpensive to own and operate.
Hemi, no one’s saying you don’t have a right to your opinion. But we have a right to call your opinion total BS. And it is. The Cruze and the Malibu look very little alike, in fact. The grilles are only loosely similar, the headlights are different, the front fenders are different, the rooflines are different, and the rear fascia is totally different. So back up your opinions with observations, or you’ll be treated like the whore and her trick in the next hotel room when you’re trying to sleep: entertaining for 5 seconds, and insanely annoying for any longer than that.
It’s too bad that we here in canada don’t get the diesel. Our emissions arn’t have as tuff as the ones south of the border. So please let them doll out the diesel up here, VW sells to every diesel lover up here and there is a fairly good market.
Oh my god! I’ve been insulted by an LLN blogger! What will I do with my life? Kiss my @$$. This car looks like EVERY other car in Chevy’s line-up except the corvette. There is no creativity, the parts you mentioned looking different are BS slap on parts. If you like cars that look like shaved down bars of soap, then that’s fine. But I wish GM would make something DIFFERENT!
I guess I’m the only one here who likes the Cobalt. It has simple clean lines and doesn’t try to stand out in a crowd. Perfect sleeper.
What do you mean by “different”, Hemi?
Buy a New Beetle if you want something that looks “different”. Or a Scion xD. Or import a Citroen C6. Of course, NONE of these cars sell between 200,000-300,000 units a year.
How “creative” was the Nova? In every generation, it looked like a shrunken full-size (62-64) or Chevelle (65-79). And the Corvair might have been creative (except that GM was cribbing from Euro manufacturers like VW and Renault), but look at how well that turned out over time.
And, for the record, all the parts I named were ALL THE PARTS ON THE OUTSIDE OF A CAR YOU EVER SEE (i.e., the roof, front, rear, and doors). So what do you WANT?
jayjc08 & inline6: excellent explanations, though I still maintain the practice of changing a replacement model’s name (eg Cavalier-Cobalt-Cruze) only serves to alienate and confuse your customer base. I’m sure it leaves many with the impression that the old model was something the manufacturer would just as soon forget. I would rather they even called the outgoing model the ‘Classic’ as GM has also been known to do.
Again, Hemi, it has to do with family (brand) design language. Chevys look like Chevys, Pontiacs look like Pontiacs, Fords look like Fords, Hondas look like Hondas, Toyotas look like Toyotas, VW’s look like VW’s, hell, look at the Acura lineup. Every one looks like Bugs Bunny, or will soon. Have you ever looked at a Porsche.
And inline6, watch what you say about the Corvair.
Those cars were shaping up to be the greatest renaissance in North American automotion, before Nader had them killed. We had the 911 turbo almost a decade before Porsche did (rear-engined air-cooled flat six turbo). 40 years of development would be leaving us with a hell of a compact sports coupe of a 2008 Corvair.
Nader… I’m suprised that someone hasn’t killed that ba$tard yet.
Nice looking design, I hope GM can compete with the Civic and Corolla’s. Design is always subjective but build quality, reliability and fuel efficiency will be its selling point.
That belted grill treatment works a lot better on the Cruze than the Malibu. The Bu’s grill is a little too upright, like a large nose, whereas the Cruze’s grill leans back a bit and that combined with the shape of the headlamps make the belt integrate well into the overall form. This really is a nice car design, especially at the class level it will come in.
^^^ Well finally someone figured it out! That’s exactly what I’m saying, Chevrolet has ALWAYS made boring looking vehicles that looked exactly the same, except a few like the vette and camaro. That’s all they make and somehow they get buy with it. Make a car that looks exiting, not exotic, just exiting. Not a shrunken malibu. Mopars look different from each other in the 60’s-early 70’s, so did Ford’s. GM makes BORING $H!T for the most part. You would figure with as much hype over this car that it would stand out from everyone else and look unique. It doesn’t. Nothing about it says, “Hey, I think I’ll buy that over the competition”
A three door hatch might be more useful than a coupe(like the 3 door Astra..except this might cost less, and get better MPG, than the Asta).
Has there really been that much hype about the Cruze? The Malibu, sure, but this car is getting about as much press as the new Mazda 3.
and get better MPG, than the **Asta).
Comment by LJ, posted on August21
Meant to say **ASTRA….sorry…not bashing the Astra(it does cost a good bit, though).
to YOU, HRR. And you didn’t answer my questions.
Except that Mopars DIDN’T look different in the ’60s and ’70s, either. When Elwood Engle took over stying, Chrysler’s A, B, and C cars all took on that straight-line Lincolnesque look to them. Witness the ‘65 Polara, the ‘66 Coronet, and the ‘67 Dart. Look at the rooflines on the 2-door models. All the same.
And things didn’t change in the ’70s, either, with Chrysler. The big Chryslers, Dodges, Imperials, and Plymouths all went to “fuselage” styling in 1969. The Dart Demon and Valiant Duster, as well as the Challenger and Barracuda of ‘70 were from the fuselage school, too. Then the midsize cars (Coronet and Satellite) did the fuselage thing, in ‘71. Most of them had loop-style bumper/grille combos, to boot. A few of them had retractable headlights (e.g. Imperial, Charger).
So again, HRR, quit crying about being edited, and QUANTIFY YOUR ARGUMENT. TELL US WHAT YOU WANT.
Johnnycanuck, I, too, think it’s stupid that GM’s changing the name to Cruze. Not only is it a stupid name, but they have to do all that marketing all over again to bring back buyer awareness. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
oldraven, I think the Corvair is a fine automobile. But was it the wave of the future? Absolutely not. The Corvair’s best sales years were ‘60-62, but GM decided to put the Chevy II into production for ‘62, anyway. Many, many more people ended up buying it instead. The Corvair didn’t come with a turbo until 1965. The Porsche 911 had come out in 1963. And a host of rear-engine small cars around the world may have been popular then (Renault Dauphine/8, SIMCA 1000, Hillman Imp, Fiat 850, VW Beetle), but they all replaced by front-engine front-drivers with their next redesigns. The Corvair never handled as well as the Porsche and was never meant to be a performance car, which is why it topped out at 160hp, while everyone else was putting 250+ in cars like the Nova SS, Mustang, and Barracuda.
The leaning grille was inspired by Tom Cruise… as was the name. GM wanted to avoid potential lawsuits and any connection with that idiology “religion” so they altered the spelling slightly. The board members were told by their analysts that if they replaced the ‘is’ with a ‘z’ the vehicle would be very popular with the “hip” crowd of young folk whose slurred speach and lazy grammatical habits have recently lead to all kinds of abuse of the english language. We all know that ‘Z’ is among the coolest letters of the alphabet… right up there with ‘X’ and ‘R’. GM considered naming the vehicle OMGWTFBBQ!!!11 but they thought that targeting only the WoW generation was going a bit too far. Besides, OMGWTFBBQ SS sounds pretty lame… almost as lame as Cruze SS.
the madza 3 still kills
Looks alright outside, have to see it in person to be sure. Hopefully it will look good inside, too. Also, the name is still officially retarded.
Let me try and put an end to this. So I don’t have to read anymore crap.
HemiRoadRunner you need to pay attention a little more when you read. “I think it’s tacky that an American car company has a foreign license plate on the image’s of the car.” Let me help you by pasting a part of the article for you. “The Cruze, which will replace the compact Cobalt, is expected to be sold world-wide.” And, “The car will hit the European market in March of 2009, with U.S. production at the Lordstown, Ohio, plant where the Cobalt is currently made beginning in June 2010.”
Next Hemi-ism. “What pisses me off is instead of just admitting they copied the malibu and made it smaller, GM acts like they actually put THOUGHT into this pos.” Again pay attention here. “As expected, the Cruze takes styling cues from the new Malibu, and promises to be a much sharper car than the current Cobalt.” And here is a news flash for you, AVENGER LOOKS ALOT LIKE A CHARGER! Hmmm seems Chevy is not the only car company that does that. Another flash for you, THEY ALL DO. All carlines have their own look that runs through the line. Because that is what people want. They buy their first new Chevy or Ford or Toyota or Nissan because they like the way it looks and feels. So why wouldn’t you want to have that same appeal throughout your lineup to keep that customer with you throughout their life? DUH!!!!!
“Another boring car from a company that just can’t get their head out of their @$$.” you may want to read up on the HEMI famliy company and whoever owns them this week. They announced that they are pulling out of the leasing game all together. In other words, they don’t even want their cars back.
ROTFLMAO. They realize that even with a so called edgy look, people still want quality and gas mileage. “According to Gilles, his plan will involve moving the company away from “edge” designs, like the Dodge Caliber and Chrysler minivans, into more organic shapes like the Dodge Zeo concept car.” (From another article on here. “Chrysler done with “edge” look, moving to “organic” designs”)
“Oldraven, mind your owning ****ing buisiness. Why are you defending a pos car. Is your life that perfect that you can get your panties in a wad because I don’t like a particular car? As far as bashing this car goes, that’s what this blog is for, it’s MY PERSONAL FEEDBACK.” No Hemi, what you are doing is bashing something for the sake of bashing. If you have no interest in this class of cars then why say anything about them. That just lowers your credibility on posts that you do care about. If I have no interest in minivans, then why would I want to bash them. My opinion wouldn’t matter because I am not the customer base for those vehicles. Also, love the fact you were edited. Just been on here for a short time, but haven’t seen anyone else write something so dumb or hateful, that it had to be edited. LMAO
Open your eyes Hemi. Is it still dark? That’s because of where you head is right now. You should pull it out or you will suffocate.
wait, let me get this right….this car is not going to come to the US for another 2 years? wtf? In a world where smaller cars are in high demand and civic, 3 and corrolla are class leaders chevy is going to have to sell the ho humm cobalt for another 2 years?
LMFAO RaineMan! How about the OMGBFFCUL8R SS? Better yet, let ktulu name it.
Ha! I got 2 LLN blog geeks to waste their time typing essays on me. 60’s070’s Mopars look distinctive, Period. Have fun with it.
I kind of like the OMGWTFBBQ SS Raineman.
That took some thought.
Also, I am not sure Fromes, but I think it comes to us so late because of emission and safety items that have to be worked out. There are a lot of cars overseas that can’t be sold here because of these items. I think the designers built it for Europe first and then liked it and decided to bring it to the states. Not sure, could be wrong.
LOL had to write that much because there was that much stupidity and moronic thoughts in your comments that proved you didn’t pay attention when you read. Wanted to try and help you learn how to read but flag on your myspace shows me your level of ritting and rithmatic, Jethro.
Sorry, couldn’t resist lashing out. It was too easy.
I just feel a bit heartbroken that mother GM is abandoning my little Cobalt for some Daewoo rebadge that will probably be sold as a Suzuki too. Whether it actually is a better car or not will have to be determined in ‘10 when I actually get to test drive one. The name may be bad… but the badging can always be scraped off the back… at least then you won’t have to look at it every day.
People trash talk and write off the Cobalt so much it drives me crazy. I find it funny that the car recieves so much disrespect yet holds the current world record for FWD vehicles on the ‘ring. I get a grin from ear to ear every time I blow the doors off some prick in a new Mustang or S2000 that thinks his car is the be all and end all of badarse and that my little wingless Chevy 4-banger with a loud exhaust doesn’t stand a chance. They finally catch me after I let off at 120… and ask me what I’m driving. One word baby… COBALT! They’ll never forget it.
Flying cheese monkeys and talking jello trees will take over the planet! RUN… somewhere!
That’s about as on-topic as the rest of these comments. haha
Amen to that, RaineMan.
bimpy, kids say that “acronym” all the time. He’s not the one who thought of it. At least I don’t think so.
I kinda think it looks awful. I’ll reserve judgement until i see it in person, but at this point the cobalt looks better, less fussy.
at the end of the day this is a CHEVYWOO and it cant hide the fact
And sadly no… OMGWTFBBQ is not something I came up with… if I had I would have copywrighted it and I’d be driving a big block Camaro SS now instead of a Cobalt SS. I see 12-16 year olds say that online all the time… seems like the same people that came up with Cruze.
lol.
A few things…I think the rear lights are a bit too rounded off to accentuate it’s edgy front. Secondly..I think it would have looked a bit nicer if they didnt take the headlights up into the hood. Just square it off….why do you think Audi cars look so nice..because they dont try too hard. Its suttle beauty. This car is a step in the right direction…but eventually GM needs to take a leap. They dont have time for steps anymore. Cobalt was supposed to be a Civic killer…lets hope they’ve learned their lesson. Although after seeing spy shots of the cabin the interior looks like a MAJOR improvement over recent GM offerings…
I get the OMGWTB, but what is BBQ? I don’t think it is barbeque.
OMGWTF. Sorry.
Very nice car, but… GM needs to FOCUS ON BRAND.
You can slap a Pontiac badge here, and it would work.
You can slap a Saturn badge here, and it would work.
Why can’t they define the brands? Instead of mudding it…
I think it looks good. Certainly a better looking car than the Fit, Yaris, Hyundais, and most of the other competition. I think the only car in this class that looks better is the Mazda 3.
